I just want to say that I love my life. I’ve gotten to experience so many things that I never dreamed a small country girl like myself would be doing. This weekend I got to hangout with a great band called Sevenglory. Great group of guys who are down to earth, funny, love Jesus, and are just genuinely interested in getting to know you. One of my favorite bands we’ve ever had at Wade!

As some of you know my man Billy Whitt is the awesome worship guy that amazingly coordinates these types of events so that we can have awesome experiences like the ones that went down this weekend. Let me tell you… I had a great time! I know Billy’s run ragged from all the planning, but I really enjoyed it! I feel guilty for saying that because he doesn’t always get to experience these things from my side. Most of the time I get to sit back and relax and enjoy the show (helping when needed), but for the most part I get to be one of the fans while he’s being the master mind behind it all. So today, I want to give him props for all his hard work! We often take for granted how much time and effort our leaders and volunteers (like the awesome cooks, etc.) put in to making an event run smoothly and seemlessly.

 We had a Be-U-TEE-full weekend, and today our 70 degree weekend weather has turned to cold and snow! Well it was fun while it lasted. Here’s where you can find us when the temperature is above 55. Billy is such a tennis pro, and I’m just a beginner, but I’m improving.
Some guys ask Billy to play doubles with them at least twice a week, and it’s true that practice makes perfect. He’s always stepping up his game and pulling out some awesome moves that will blow your socks off!
It’s so fun to watch Billy and his best friend play. They joke around and say that it’s like watching geriatrics play because it looks like slow mo compared to the big dawgs. HaHa. I still enjoy watching!

Billy Bucks February 16, 2009

One Billy Buck Good For A Dead Sea Mineral Spa Treatment

So this is Billy’s and my 5th Valentine’s Day together (two of which we’ve been married), and Billy never ceases to amaze me. This year he did the traditional candy, flowers, and card, but he also gave me this coupon book. I looked through the coupon book, but I guess I missed the very back because Billy said, “Have you looked through your book?” I said, “Yes.” But he said that he wasn’t for sure that I had. I turned to the back and found “Billy Bucks”. It was so great! Billy had made these “Billy Bucks” (I wonder if they take these at the grocery store) that actually look like real American currency. I turned it over, and it read “One Billy Buck Good For A Dead Sea Mineral Spa Treatment”. He knows the way to a girl’s heart. What girl wouldn’t love a spa treatment!?! So I still wasn’t sure where this spa thing was leading, but after our Valentine’s Day dinner at the Outback, we got back home, and Billy said, “Are you ready to cash in those Billy Bucks?” I was like, “SURE!” So he went beside the sofa and pulled out this Desiring God bag from the conference in Minneapolis. I thought, “That’s weird that they’d give spa stuff away at the Desiring God Conference.” I had no clue what he might pull out of the bag. There was a manicure set, a facial treatment, and a body scrub treatment. Funny thing is… Billy hid my Valentine’s Day present in the bag as a cover up, and he had it laying right out in plain sight ever since he got back from his trip, and I never had a clue. I should have been a blond! Anyway, it was so sweet, but the best part is that he was the one who gave me the 5-Star Spa Treatment. He did my nails, helped me with my facial, and other spa like treatments. I love how he took the time to pamper me. It was so relaxing, and my nails and skin felt so soft afterward. I’ve never even had a manicure before (I’ve been so deprived!), but Billy did an awesome job. My sweetie is the best!

There’s this great new book out called “God All Around: 31 Places to Find the Fingerprints of God in Your Life” by Bill Whitt. It’s by a really great author, musician, creator, and husband. Ok, yes I’m promoting my man’s book, but I think I’m allowed to have bragging rights, plus I’ve personally read the book, and it has allowed me to slow down a little more often and experience God in the everyday hub-bub of things. God is not just some mythological god that sits out there on his little cloud throne waving his magic lightning rod. He’s a relevant God that wants us to have a personal relationship with Him and experience happiness in Him. So check it out!

Home Alone Part I February 4, 2009

Billy has been at the Desiring God Conference in Minneapolis since Monday. He gets back today, and I am so ecstatic. This is the first time that we’ve been apart since we’ve been married, and it sucked monkey balls… Sorry that’s my favorite quote lately. I give props to the stay at home moms and wives of traveling artists, conference speakers, and all the other job fields that require you to be away from the people you love for an extended period of time. It takes a strong and fearless woman to keep the home fires burning while her man is on the road, and let me just say I’m not one of those women. I am the biggest weenie you’ve ever seen. I’ll go around the house, turn on every single light (forget electric bills, I want to be able to see those robbers and aliens. lol), check the doors, and re-check the doors. I’ll think of people I can call on my cell (after 9 PM of course because that’s when I get free minutes) and bug them for however long they’ll put up with me. I’ll deliberately stay up late and watch tv until I get so tired that my body forces itself to sleep. It’s hilarious when I think about it, but at the time it seems so… so logical. So this week I faced my fear (YAY – What?! A.K.A cocaine), and it wasn’t that bad, but I’ll take the comfort of having my man around over scary nights alone any day of the week.

And The Winner Is… January 19, 2009

So this past week Carlos Whittaker was giving away tickets to the Desiring God Conference with John Piper in Minneapolis, MN. We were out eating with some friends when Billy and I got to talking about Carlos’s giveaway, and Billy’s friend asked him if he was going to the conference. I think we just sort of laughed because there’s so much stuff going on this year like family vacations, a friend’s wedding, and some other things that we’d like to do as well, but deep down I knew Billy would love to have a chance to go to the conference because he always talks about John Piper, and these sorts of things energize him and inspire him. I was planning on entering for him, but I figured there was no chance that I’d win, but Billy beat me to the punch. How lucky is he!

“Whatever” January 8, 2009

So this Sunday at worship Billy filled in for our regular pastor. Billy gets to preach about once a month to once every two months. After every one of his sermons I wait in anticipation for the next one. He’s always bringing a new and fresh way to understand our never changing God and Scriptures. How do you bring a message that people can relate to, but also doesn’t dismantle the integrity of the Scriptures? I think this is one of the hardest things to do when you’re teaching or preaching, especially because being in a position like this makes you the center of critiquing. Most every one of Billy’s sermons is a surprise to me too. He gives me glimpses of what he might talk about or do, but I think I’m just as captivated as others if not more by his sermon illustrations. This past week’s has still stuck with me. “Everything is permissible, but everything is not beneficial.” Since his sermon I’ve really been trying to look deep down to the root of who I am and say, “What needs to change in me?”… “Is what I’m doing really glorifying God?”… “Am I a stumbling block for others?”… “Am I doing things that are not illegal, but are also not beneficial?”… etc.

I don’t want to give away too much about his sermon and illustration because I want you to check it out for yourself, and let me know if you don’t come up with a better way to understand God and Scripture.

Computer, What Time Is It? December 18, 2008

Billy’s early Christmas present (a MacBook Pro) arrived last night. It is RIDCULOUS! Do people still use that word? Anyway, it talks to you, and you can tell it to do different things. It’s a little freaky, but so COooooooool. Billy has needed a new computer for a while now, and he decided that the MacBook Pro is the way to go, especially so he can run ProTools.  It’s awesome, and it gets us closer to our dream of having a home recording studio. Billy just has a talent for doing this sort of stuff. I’ve always admired him for how he creates these harmonious vignettes using audio and visual effects. He has so many wonderful talents and gifts, and I’m blessed to be able to experience all this with him and call him my husband. I can’t wait for our next adventure.
